The history of canada's flag

Before the canadian flag had the big red maple leaf in the middle and the white back ground,  the Canadian Legion displayed what they called the Red Ensign as their flag.  It contained a Union Jack, three small maple leaves and a coat of arms. (If you want to see the flag go to the change section.)  This flag was more British then Canadian, so the flag that we have now which called the 'Maple Leaf' is the first national canada flag.  The flag called 'maple leaf' was addopted on October 22, 1964 and proclaime in to a law into a law by queen Elizabeth on Febrary 15, 1965. The reason for proclaming this 'maple leaf' flag to get rid of union flag and get national canada flag.
